3.Operation
Zero value self-breakage, easy to detect, tempered glass insulators have the characteristic of zero value self-breakage, which can be observed on the ground or helicopter without the need to climb the pole and test each piece, reducing the labor intensity of workers and introducing products from the production line. The annual operating self-rupture rate is 0.02-0.04%, which can save maintenance costs of the line.
The glass insulator has good resistance to arc and vibration, and the new surface of the glass insulator subjected to lightning burns during operation is still a smooth glass body with a tempered internal stress protection layer. Therefore, it still maintains sufficient insulation performance and mechanical strength. There have been multiple incidents of conductor dancing caused by ice on 500kV transmission lines, and the mechanical and electrical performance has not deteriorated after testing the glass insulator after conductor dancing.

The dielectric constant of the glass is 7-8, which makes the glass insulator have a large main capacitance and a uniform voltage distribution in series, which is conducive to reducing the voltage borne by the insulators near the wire side and grounding side, thereby reducing radio interference, reducing corona losses, and extending the life cycle of the glass insulator.
